EXTREME COLD WARNING
Last month we successfully tested shutdown and restart at -27.2°C/-16.6°F and today, we were able to demonstrate uninterrupted system operation at -38.6°C/-37.5°F and we even produced some heat when the sun peeked through the clouds around noon.

Hybrid Heating & Cooling

hybrid heating and cooling

In this Darcy event, we’ll cover dual-fuel systems for residential and C&I heating & cooling applications in the context of decarbonization.

Come to hear from Yesim Barista, Technical Business Development from Enersion Inc. on their innovative adsorption chiller that utilizes nano-porous material to convert waste heat directly into cooling and heating applications in solar, gas, and other configurations. We’ll also have Apostol Radev, CEO & Founder of SolarSteam Inc. which focuses on generating process heat for the industrial sector to significantly reduce energy costs by hybridizing carbon-intensive operations with a modular solar thermal solution.

If you are a Darcy member, please make sure you have logged into the Darcy Connect platform and RSVPd for the event by clicking the “+Register” button on the event page:
https://lnkd.in/dkRTh8Jk

If you are with a Power & Utility but not a current member, you still can attend the session by logging into Darcy Connect and creating a 30-day free trial.

If you are not with a Power & Utility company, we thank you for your interest but this session is limited to technology end users only. Technology providers can be considered to present to our P&U member group at a future session by creating a company profile on our platform: https://lnkd.in/g6nYR-kj

All others are welcome to create an individual account to receive our weekly technical digest of industry trends and information on future events.

Best regards,
The Darcy Team

ERA’s Industrial Transformation Challenge

industrial transformation challenge

SolarSteam Inc. is ready to step up to Emissions Reduction Alberta (ERA)‘s Industrial Transformation Challenge to accelerate decarbonizing some of the highest emitting and hardest-to-abate heavy industry segments in Alberta! We already have a fully automated TRL 7 pilot including thermal energy storage (TES) integration operational in Ponoka, Alberta. We are ready to deploy commercial demonstration and implementation projects in Alberta with industry partners committed to evidence-based #ESG leadership. Contact me to be included to our demonstration projects shortlist which is growing every week.

The Industrial Heat Shot™

solarsteams purpose

SolarSteam Inc. is ready to step up to the challenge to develop cost-competitive solutions for industrial heat in response to the Industrial Heat Shot™ announced on September 21, 2022 by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)

DOE Launches New Energy Earthshot To Cut Industrial Heating Emissions By 85 Percent >> https://lnkd.in/gGyG2YTW

“Industrial heating processes” refer to the many methods by which heat transforms materials into useful products. Heat is pervasive in manufacturing—it is used to remove moisture, create steam, separate chemicals, treat metals, melt plastics, and much more. Industrial heat accounts for about 9% of the entire U.S. emissions footprint. The Industrial Heat Shot will have the additional impact of reducing air pollution associated with burning fossil fuels that will improve the health of communities living in proximity to manufacturing facilities.

The Industrial Heat Shot ™ has three key pathways to its target with one of them being: Integrate low-emissions heat sources: Transition to low-emission heat sources, such as geothermal energy, concentrated solar power, or nuclear energy, and increase thermal storage.

We have completed a $1M pre seed round!

$1M seed round

Between 2020 and 2021, SolarSteam Inc. completed a $1M pre-seed round in a combination of accelerator, VC investment, and grant funding. This support enabled us to increase the bench strength of the team, leading to the development of an automated TRL7 field pilot in Ponoka, Alberta, and the launch of an aggressive customer discovery campaign producing a $30M+ pipeline of demonstration projects in Canada, the US and Europe.

I like to say that we are not a tech company but a people company. A big #THANKYOU to all our supporters and cheerleaders. We wouldn’t have done it without you!

Stay tuned for the official announcement of opening our Seed round.

SolarSteam withstands the severe weather

pilot project and Ccan

A severe hail storm ravages central Alberta over the weekend. Flooding and hail damage were seen throughout the area. The storm was so strong that it knocked out power to many places including the site of our pilot plant in Ponoka. Large hail stones pelted properties and buildings, piling up on the highways and roads like snow.

We are pleased to share that even though a power loss was suffered, SolarSteam Inc. system was able to withstand the strong winds, rain, and golf-ball sized hail with no damage and all 4 levels of emergency systems and shutdowns worked accordingly.
