This motion was accepted by the city’s executive committee in November 2021 and targets net zero emissions for the City of Calgary by 2050. A strategic priority for Alberta’s energy sector, the announcement also calls on city administration to develop forward-looking business plans and budgets to invest in emissions reductions and climate risk reduction projects.
